Szabics leaves it late

[1] Imre Szabics scored ten minutes from time to give Hungary a thrilling victory over Iceland in FIFA World Cup qualifying Group 8.

Gudjohnsen strikes

[2] Hungary were defeated 3-0 by Croatia in their opening match on Saturday and they looked to be in trouble again when Iceland went ahead against the run of play five minutes before half-time, Chelsea FC striker Eidur Gudjohnsen heading in Arnar Grétarsson's cross.

Hungary draw level

[3] Hungary battled back and drew level on 64 minutes when captain Zoltán Gera scored from close range, and the home side were on course for victory when substitute striker Sándor Torghelle struck 15 minutes from time.

Szabics winner

[4] But Iceland, showing more fight than in their 3-1 home defeat by Bulgaria on Saturday, hit back immediately through Indridi Sigurdsson, only for Szabics to steal the points after 80 minutes and close a frantic five-minute spell.

Hungary boost

[5] Victory lifts Hungary to a three-way tie with Sweden and Bulgaria for second place in the group after two matches, three points behind leaders Croatia. Iceland will be looking for their first points when they travel to bottom side Malta next month.
